The Celtic people have long embraced and cherished music since ancient times. Despite a great diversity of instruments, including fiddle, tinwhistle, accordian, pipes, banjo, and more, there is always a unified and distinctly celtic sound. Lovers of music all over the world hold traditional Irish and Scottish music in high regard, as it has a sense of universality and comfort.
Kentucky, as well as many other Southern and Appalachian states, was blessed by its immigrant founders who brought their native music here. Over time, many of the same songs evolved into the bluegrass and mountain songs known in these lands.
The Lexington Celtic Association is delighted to have many musicians in attendance, As Well as several celtic bands who frequent our meetings.

My Darling Asleep"My Darling Asleep was formed in 2003 to perform traditional Irish songs and dance tunes. The band was initially an outgrowth of the Irish Music Ensemble, a student group co-directed by Sean MuLhall and Marie Geever at the University Of Louisville School Of Music. My Darling Asleep’s repertoire includes a wide variety of music from the Celtic world, ranging from spirited jigs, reels, and hornpipes to graceful airs and songs of folklore and wonder."
